 WOODS, Peter Cavanaugh
Colonel, 36th Texas Calvary
(Woods Regiment)

This Military endorsement consists only of the last name 'Woods
and was first observed in a horde of $100 Confederate Interest Bearing notes
(T39, T40, T41) offered in a series of Heritage auctions conducted in 2015.
Several other new discoveries were made in this Texas Horde utilizing the same method of signing including Miller (Lt. Irving Miller, Adjutant to Col. Woods), Prendergast (Capt. Davis M. Prendergast, 10th Texas Infantry), Luckett  (Col. Philip Noland Luckett, 3rd Texas Infantry).
(Please see my other auction this week for my Stroud note)

Colonel Peter Cavanaugh Woods is listed in Michael McNeils 'Confederate Quartermasters, Commissaries and Agents' 2016 edition with 5 pages devoted to his name and service exploits.

As one of the more common Military Signature Notes with a rarity 10,
with 36 known, this is an inexpensive addition to Military issued notes
with some great historical background to it.
