After the death of his boss M, Sir James Bond (D Niven) is called back out of retirement to stop the dastardly outfit known as SMERSH. In order to trick SMERSH, Bond thinks up the ultimate plan: every secret agent on the books shall be named James Bond. One of the new Bonds, whose real name is Evelyn Tremble (P Sellers), is sent to take on the SMERSH supremo in a game of baccarat. Comic complications ensue and actually all of the Bonds get more than they can handle.
This early entry in the Bond series wasn't made by the usual team. The tales of the famously troubled production would fill a book. The film was eventually completed and by that time it had been decided to make it in to a spoof. A remake, closer to the original story, appeared in 2006.
Run time 2 hr 11. Seven reels. SCOPE. This is an original 1967 British release print in DYE TRANSFER Technicolor aka "IB Tech". Condition is VGC, with minor dirt at reel ends, and a few splices. Mono optical sound. No VS. CANS ARE NOT INCLUDED.
