This over the top carved golden oak clock shelf MAY have been created from the top trim of an important jeweller' regulator or similar; it is wonderful and unique in any event.  Measuring 9 1/2" tall x 16 3/4" wide (12 1/2" wide at the brackets) x 5 1/2" deep, it has a 13 3/4" wide x 3 7/8" space inside the gallery.  The surface appears to be cleaned original golden varnish under a later protective clear coat and is super-abundant in ornamentation:14 balls 1 1/8" in diameter and 12 balls 3/4" with 16 carved rosettes in 2 differnt designs and hand carving on the brackets.  It has sturdy metal hangers on the back.  One of the 3/4" balls is gone and there are 4 holes on the underside of the shlf suggesting it was part of a larger entity at one time.
