This rare find features a railroad engine called "The General". This now famous locomotive was stolen by James J. Andrews during the Civil War in Georgia. He attempted to bring the train to the Northern Union troops, destroying track and telegraph lines along the way to try to cut off supply lines. He was caught when the train ran out of fuel and hanged for his crimes. Films were later made by Buster Keaton in 1927 (The General) and Walt Disney in 1956 (The Great Locomotive Chase) loosely based on this story.

This slightly colorized lithograph postcard is stamp dated 1907. Made by EC Kropp Publishers of Milwaukee.

The condition is as shown in the photographs.
