2002 Hauser “replica” by Sean Hancock of Australia based on a 1966 Hauser II.  Sean has been building guitars with his father and brother on the Gold Coast of Queensland Australia, since he was 11 years old.   He has been featured on many classical guitar websites including GSI (see ‘Luthiers’ under Museum tab).

This guitar has a silky, aged German spruce top, striking straight-grained East Indian rosewood back & sides and a Honduran cedar neck with the Hauser “V” joint at the headstock.  Tuners have been upgraded with frictionless Hauser-style Rubner machines.  Sound is quintessential Hauser: clear, sweet and superbly balanced.   It has plenty of volume throughout the full range of the fingerboard and offers a wide  pallet of tone colors for the player.

The French polish finish is in excellent condition (see pics). There is a small string mark behind the tie-block, some light crazing on the neck heel and some very light marks on the lower bout from normal use.  There are no structural issues or history of repairs. A year ago, I had Peter Tsiorba re-fret it with large profile fret wire and change out the nut and saddle with unbleached bone.

Playability is like a new instrument and very comfortable due to the refined neck shape, medium-sized body and rosewood armrest (may be removed if desired). Scale length is 650mm and nut width is 52mm. Action is 3.5mm/6th and 3.0mm/1st with room at the saddle if a change is desired.

Shipped in a like-new Crossrock arch-top case.
