For sale in our store is a beautiful piece of history, an antique silver cable chain silk ladies opera bag. The outside of the bag is a creamy white colored hand woven silk (see pictures) and the inside is a soft pink satin material with a small side pocket. 

The ornate repoussed and chasing figural musical themed silver hardware is stamped 800 fine for silver purity (see pictures, magnified 10x). 

There are two identical marks on both sides of the silver hardware closure which we were not able to identify? (see pictures, magnified 10x). 

The chain handle is a cable rolo style pattern and it is not magnetic. The chain is created in such a fashion that it can be doubled up and carried by hand, or, the chain can extend out singularally for on the shoulder? The end of the chain is attached to a loop that has two marks stamped into it, one which is the same as the mark on the hardware, and the other which has not been identified. The unidentified mark appears to have numbers associated within it but is not legible to us even under magnification. The chain is quite heavy and has a beautiful dark blue patina over most of the entire chain indicating the presence of silver.

"This rare and beautiful piece comes in excellent pre-owned condition, there are several light blue stains on one side of the purse (see picture) and the hardware closes flush but does not stay closed tightly (see picture). We have not tried to clean the material or repair the clasp and are selling as is. The clasp is 800 silver and should be able to be slightly adjusted easily to close properly. The remaining wear is acceptable considering the age of the purse."
