About the artist:
Indian Crow artist Penni Anne Cross, (Alawa-sta-we-ches) was born in Washington state in 1939. She first studied with her mother, a portrait painter, before beginning more formal studies in 1968.
Her work is commercially oriented, sentimentalizing her paintings of Native Americans from the Crow tribe. Cross's raven name, "Alawa-sta-we-ches," means "Travel the Good Road." Penni Anne Cross's work is held in numerous private collections throughout the country.
