Locomotion was the first train in the world to pull a passenger car. This was in 1825 on the Stockton & Darlington Railway in the North East of England.

Built and driven by George Stephenson. Known as a the father of the railways, George Stephenson was also a genius engineer.

He and his inventions / creations were fundamental to the building and success of the Industrial Revolution. That Revolution that not only changed Britain forever, but also soon after the rest of the world…and for the better.

George Stephenson was born near Newcastle, his father was a miner and George followed him to the pit from around the age of 12.

George Stephenson, one of the finest engineers the world has ever know couldn’t read or write until he was 18 years old
