Ditmar-Urbach Ceramic Pitcher
Made in Czechoslovakia
Art Deco Modernist
1930's
Ditmar-Urbach is a Czech pottery company that operated in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, from 1882–1938.
The company's history includes:
- 1882–1938: The company began as Brothers Urbach and operated under various names.
- 1919: The company merged with a factory owned by Rudolf Ditmar's heirs and became Ditmar-Urbach.
- 1938: The Nazis took over the factory from the Jewish owners, and it became part of Ostmark-Ceramic.
- 1945: The factory was nationalized after the end of the war.
- Ditmar-Urbach produced a wide range of styles, including Art Deco. Some of their pieces are known for their unusual color combinations, shapes, and glazes.
Some of the red paint has worn off. There is a grayish line at the rim that looks like a crack but is actually under the glaze.
Says "Made in Czechoslovakia" and some raised numbers and/or letters that I can't make it.
