A genuinely spectacular studio pottery chawan ceremonial teabowl by leading American potter Dick Lehman. Stoneware. Multiple glazes offering an abstracted landscape effect. Lovely "clay flavour" to the foot". Dick's potter's mark to the body, partially glaze-filled. Excellent condition, as new. Dimensions (approximate): 13cm x 13cm x 8cm.

In 2017, Dick made a number of chawan with various new glaze combinations. The best of these were named by Dick. This one is "Raining Northern Lights". The glaze effect was unique and this was one of the very best examples. It's an extraordinary thing, like a lightning storm in a bowl.
