  HISTORICAL INFORMATION:   From the very hard to find 1960 book that was a special commemorative issue that contains copies of commissioned charcoal portraits of 100 Civil War military and naval leaders and soldiers, both North (Union) and South (Confederate). The original charcoal sketches were based on civil war-era photographs. Also included were a selection of color plate prints that show uniforms, flags, insignia, etc.
