Alan Parsons è un musicista e tecnico del suono inglese, fondatore insieme a Eric Woolfson del gruppo progressive rock inglese The Alan Parsons Project. Ha contribuito a molti album, oggi considerati tra i più importanti della storia della musica leggera, e collaborato con importanti gruppi e cantanti rock, tra cui Beatles, Pink Floyd, Al Stewart e John Miles. Alan Parsons nacque il 20 dicembre 1948 a Londra, in Inghilterra, da Jean e Denys Parsons. A metà anni sessanta divenne ingegnere del suono presso gli studi della EMI di Abbey Road a Londra. Nel 1969 collaborò con Geoff Emerick per Abbey Road dei Beatles. In seguito, Parsons continuò a collaborare con Paul McCartney e negli anni settanta lavorò per i Pink Floyd in Atom Heart Mother e The Dark Side of the Moon. Successivamente con Eric Woolfson fondò il gruppo progressive rock The Alan Parsons Project nel 1975, band che si sciolse nel 1990 con l'album Freudiana, che tuttavia venne pubblicato senza il "logo" del Project. A metà anni ottanta produsse la colonna sonora composta da Andrew Powell "Ladyhawke" e l'album "Keats" suonato da sessionmen del "Project". Nel 1993 Parsons avviò la sua carriera da solista con l'album Try Anything Once, seguito da On Air (1996) e The Time Machine (1999). Nonostante gli album siano pubblicati a suo nome, non sempre egli appare nei credits (infatti le tracce sono scritte anche da Ian Bairnson, Stuart Elliott, Andrew Powell). Nel 2004, dopo cinque anni di silenzio discografico, Parsons pubblicò A Valid Path, un nuovo album solista in cui iniziò una sperimentazione verso la musica elettronica, avvalendosi anche della collaborazione di nomi celebri in questo campo, e di special guest come David Gilmour.

Alan Parsons is a British musician and sound engineer, founder with Eric Woolfson of the British progressive rock group The Alan Parsons Project. He contributed to several albums now considered among the most important in the history of pop music, and collaborated with major rock groups and singers including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Al Stewart and John Miles. Alan Parsons was born December 20, 1948 in London, England, and Jean Denys Parsons. In the mid sixties he became a sound engineer at the EMI Abbey Road studios in London. In 1969 he collaborated with Geoff Emerick for Abbey Road The Beatles. Later, Parsons continued to work with Paul McCartney and in the seventies he worked for Pink Floyd Atom Heart Mother "and" The Dark Side of the Moon. Eric Woolfson subsequently founded the progressive rock group The Alan Parsons Project in 1975, the band that broke up in 1990 with the album Freudian, but was released without the "logo" of the Project.
