Garmin has some of the nicest GPS units in the business, and probably the worst mounts.

Here is the answer and the best alternative. This is a RAM mount that fits Garmin 795/796 and Aera 500, 510, 550 and 560 series units. It is similar to the standard yoke mount we carry for these receivers, with the exception that it has an extended bracket to get the GPS farther away from whatever it is mounted on and closer to you.

The clamp base will accommodate rails in diameter from 0.625" to 1.25". The 1" rubber ball is at a right angle to the plane of the mount so when connected to a rail, the ball sits parallel to the rail. The extended mounting bracket attaches directly to Garmin factory supplied "Aviation Mount with Power Cable and Audio Jack." It has a double-socket arm with ball mounts to allow for optimum positioning.

You must have the factory-supplied "Aviation Mount with Power Cable and Audio Jack" for this to work - see pictures - it WILL NOT work with this series GPS otherwise. That piece had to come from Garmin; we don't have a secondary source for them.

This WILL NOT fit versions that use Garmin Snap-Link mount more commonly seen in automotive applications and supplied with some Aera units.
