Since these shorts altered from the real pants,there is no difference between 36 and 38 etc.
These are not fashion pants so they come as S,M,L not by [civilian] sizes as 34,36,38.
They issue the same L size pants to a size 36 sz guy as to a size 38 guy.
However in case someone doesn't read the government issued sizing label or just not experienced on military fields the selection helps to buyers to find the closest size to their civilian clothing.
