• What will happen if you don't replace your amplifier?  Your new speakers' max volume will only be 1/2 as loud since they have a higher resistance (impedance 4 ohm vs 3 ohm OEM) than the cheap OEM standard or OEM Harman Kardon speakers from BMW.  They will sound good, just not nearly loud enough.  You don't have to upgrade the amplifier, but it's highly recommended.
• There are two main reasons for this:
• 1) These new speakers can handle much more power (an average of 3x to 4x times more power!) than the OEM speakers (see specifications compare table below).
• 2) These speakers have a higher impedance rating (ohms) which means that they need more power.  Why did BMW make their speakers with lower impedance
• Answer:  It is cheaper for them since the amplifier to drive them will also need to be less powerful and cheaper to build, same goes for the cheaper speakers they use.
• The included audio harness connector kit which will allow you to connect a more powerful amplifier to the existing speaker wiring in your car is included here
• This will prevent you from having to rewire all ten speakers in the car.  You can use the existing wiring in the car and even the existing speaker connectors, no need to cut the off or modify them.
• The existing wiring in the car can handle the more powerful speakers.

NOTE 2:  If you plan to keep the original factory radio unit (head unit) in your car, you will need to buy an LOC (line output converter $30-$100 depending on the model you choose, there are many on the market) to condition the signal from the BMW radio to your new amplifier.  The AudioControl LC7i or LC6i units are recommended but there are many others in the market.

NOTE 3:  Be aware that these kits are made to order so it can take up to two weeks to source, build and ship.  Very low inventory is kept due to the high custom nature of this kit based on customer preference and type of car.

NOTE 4:  The kit shown is specific for E46 convertibles but you should specify if you want it for an E46 sedan or coupe with a few exceptions:

• If you are buying for a coupe or sedan and want rear woofers, you should add $50 to your order since the rear woofers are bigger and more powerful than those of the convertible.
• Due to lack of access to a sedan or coupe test car for fitting, no instructions are available on how to fit the rear woofers to a those cars, but it can be done if you are mechanically inclined or have do-it-yourself skills, you'll have to be creative or contact a professional installer for that task.  You can also order the kit without rear woofers (just rear tweeters) and get your own rear woofers from Crutchfield.com.
• The included wiring harness kit will work with the sedan, coupe or convertible.
• The rear tweeters will fit a sedan, coupe or convertible.

• Customers should be comfortable with using simple tools such as a screwdriver, pliers, a ratchet and a low power electric soldering iron for some wiring connections on the kit (not the car)
• Professional installation is recommended if you are not comfortable with these basic tasks.
• These speakers will fit your car (see notes further down), they have been tested for fit.  Other eBay sellers have not tried to fit their speakers or don't have detailed instructions on how to install them, leaving you to do all the work to figure out how to install them.

Returns:

• Returns are allowed for all items in kit as well as auditioned speakers per below within 30 days.  One year warranty on all kit items.

• The speaker must be in like new condition. This includes no mounting marks nor scratches (especially around the mounting holes), no solder or marks on the connectors, no sealing caulk, dirt, sawdust or other debris.
•  Speakers showing mounting marks or other indications of use will be evaluated and a restocking fee, starting at 25%, deducted from the refund amount.  In extreme cases, no refund or credit may be offered.
•  Original cartons, outer shipping cartons, and boxes, (Including factory packaging, foam, fillers, and padding), hardware such as grills, screws, and printed material, manuals and instructions must accompany the returned speaker(s) or kit. Fees imposed on us by our supplier for replacing packaging, hardware or printed material will be deducted from the refund amount
• To ship it, package the product to protect it from damage. Insure the package for the value of the product.  In the event that the returned-package is damaged in route to us due to insufficient packaging, customer should file a claim with the shipper.  Insufficient packaging may be cause for some shippers such as UPS to deny damage claims.
•  Speaker defects occur even in-the most expensive of speakers from the most respected names in the business.  Contact us immediately if you suspect you have received a defective speaker.  A speaker with a burned voice-coil is not returnable for exchange, repair, refund, or credit, this is not covered by its warranty: No exceptions. While we do not accept returns on speakers with burned voice coils they may be returned, postage prepaid, for evaluation.
