Just out of a local house is this fine abstract watercolor painting of a woman by the San Francisco artist Samuel P. Provenzano 1923-1999. The painting with frame measures 22 inches tall and 15 7/8 inches wide. The exposed matted image measures 13 1/4 inches tall and 9 5/8 inches wide. It retains its original frame but has a newer mat. It is in excellent condition with no damage except the frame has some nicks and paint losses here and there. The painting is nicely signed Samuel P. Provenzano '49. See photos.

Sam was born in the small Pennsylvania mining town of Luciusboro on Sept. 26th, 1923. He studied at; Syracuse University, New York, Academy of Fine Arts, Florence, Italy, Paris Museum and Gallery Study, France, Hans Hofmann School, New York, He worked with Hans Hoffman as his protege, Academy of Fine Arts, Mexico City, and Rosai, Florence, Italy.

He served in WWII in the Air Corps in the Pacific theater and on his return he stopped off in San Francisco and was captivated by what he found. He was quoted in 1989 as saying "When I saw the light, the water, the skyline, I knew San Francisco was the place I wanted to live and paint.
