Medium shrub, 2-4mH x 1-2mW. Globular flower heads, July-Sept. Fine phyllodes. Not well known in cultivation. Well drained, sunny position with some protection.
It had long been valued as a timber tree in the United States, and in Virginia and New England was used for treenails in shipbuilding, being hard, strong, inelastic, and durable.
