"Amazing, I tried 4 times and couldn't make my own, this 1 worked the 1st time" We have had such good results with this simple design in our IBC aquaponics system for well over two years now that we are proud to make them available for sale here in our Ebay store. Our siphons use the "Affnan" 2-1 funnel top design that assures an amazingly fast start and no we do not ever use a "trap" at the bottom because traps clog up down the road and cause failures. There should be no traps anywhere in your system in our experience. We also do not use the small "snorkel tube" you may see on other bells as that too gets clogged and we find it totally unnecessary (and very noisy) with our design which allows air to come under the bell and back up the down tube when it comes time to "break siphon". Simple and always trouble free with guaranteed reliable starts and stops. Just read our customer feedback. Also, we use a 4" gravel/media guard TO SAVE YOU GROW SPACE and they are easy to rotate in place to cut off any roots that are always trying to grow through any gravel guard. We rotate ours about once a month and that is pretty much ALL the maintenance these siphons ever need. Those 6" guards are unnecessary, expensive to ship and take up way too much of your valuable grow space. Our guards are made of S&D 200lbs per square inch 4" pipe that boasts a larger inner diameter than schedule 40 for bigger hands like mine. Our bells have a porcelain knob held on with a stainless steel screw for easy maintenance (will last forever) or just for having a quick look. These are the prettiest, best working, "easy to adjust the water level" bell siphons anywhere. The only ones voted even better looking by our visitors are our "Clear Top" bells that we also offer for a bit more money as they are much more time consuming to produce but allow you to watch the awesome show in there. This size is intended for an IBC grow bed (15 square feet by about 10" media depth) that are typically used above the fish tank and all made from one IBC like the 3rd picture above but will probably work on a 10" media depth grow bed twice that size. Unless you are going to need 10 or more like we did, it may not pay to make your own. The reason we can offer these at such a great price with gravel guard and all is because we are all set up with a multi tool production line so we can get them out fast and pass the savings on to you. These tools are dedicated just to making our siphons. We keep over $2000.00 worth of tools just set up for siphons with our special templates and jigs always on the ready. They are easily adjustable if your media depth is shorter or deeper than 10" and you can add as much as 2" if your media is greater than 10" with the simple drop in extensions without being custom made. On orders of 2 or more we even include a set of those drop in extensions. I use them to flood the bed whenever I see leaf damage and voila, the slugs, cut worms, etc. just float to the top looking for air. Easy to make in any length from 2" pipe as well. They just drop into the funnel top and are easy to pull out when done. Also great for starting small seedlings or even seeds by simply raising the level temporarily to the just right level. We use them all the time. Can't do that with the other siphons we see on here. "Building one is easy, making it work isn't. This works perfect every time!!" What you get is: One 4" pvc rugged gravel shield 12" tall (slotted rather than drilled works better) Why waste grow bed space with a giant 6" media guard?? One 3" pvc bell x 10" high with cap and blue pull handle, (looks very cool and makes it easy to check under the bell) One pair male and female threaded adapters with "o"ring to match for the bulkhead adapter Two 1" 90s One 4" and one 5" and one 6" pieces of 1" pvc pipe (you can swap the 5" and 6" for media depth changes as well) One 1" to 2" adapter for the VERY important 2-1 "Bernoulli effect" (most here on Ebay are NOT the proven 2-1 ratio) Set of 2 adjuster rings for instant water level changes Basically what you see in the first photo above plus 2 rings. These are ready to go. All you do is slip them together and install them in your growbed's 1 1/4" hole. NOTE: These are ready to install on a typical plastic 1/8 - 1/4" thick grow bed but if you built yours out of say 3/4" plywood with a liner you will need a 1" bulkhead adapter and the best price around is from Allied Aqua Dot Com. Great seller!!!" Cement not included and not necessary until it is "dialed in" The worst thing you can do is to glue things before they are all tested and ready to go permanent. Take my word for that:-) The first 2 that I made years ago were about an inch too high for the 12" of gravel I planned to use. Having glued it up I had to cut the pipes off with a small Dremel Tool cutter, a fun job indeed, all just to shorten the down tube. There is really no need to glue any of the parts located above the bulkhead fittings, just below. I have glued the top cap on the bell of course and it is well sealed. "Works flawlessly. Also we reserve the right to make improvements to the design as we make them. For example we now use lighter weight but just as strong 4" drain pipe for the gravel guard and 3" drain pipe for the bell tube in order to save you a bundle on shipping costs and give you more volume. We are using it in our system as well as we would never send out anything we have not tested ourselves. The bottom holes on the bell are now routed rather than hand cut for a much more polished look and the screw holding the knob on the bell is now stainless steel so it will last forever. Also, anyone ordering 2 or more siphons will get a bonus pair of extension tubes that will allow you to raise the water level in the grow bed either 2" for media leveling, or 1.5" for starting seeds and small transplants as well as flooding out any cut worms or slugs that invade your bed media.
