The PIC20BBA is an adapter to connect your 8-pin, 14-pin, or 20-pin PIC microcontroller to a solderless breadboard. The adapter will plug into a solderless breadboard and connect the power for the PIC as well as all of the GPIO pins to the breadboard. In addition, the adapter will plug into your PICkit 2, PICkit3, or PICkit clone programmer.

Note that this adapter is designed to be used exactly as shown in the main picture, i.e., in the upper left corner of a solderless breadboard with the ground rail at the top. To use it elsewhere on the solderless breadboard, or with the power rail at the top, will require a modification to the PIC20BBA.

Unless you specify differently, the adapter will be assembled with power pins to fit small 400-pin solderless breadboards such as the BB400. Or, you may order the assembly with the power pins installed to fit 830 pin breadboards such as the BB830. You may also order the adapter with the power pins not installed, and install them yourself. However installing the power pins requires solder, a soldering iron, and soldering skills.

NOTE: For a limited time, a 400 pin solderless breadboard will be included with each PIC20BBA at no extra charge.

The PIC20BBA adapter has nine major advantages over plugging your PIC directly into a solderless breadboard.
1. It is fully assembled and tested, so your time is focused on your hardware and software development instead of building and testing a basic PIC platform.
2. It saves time by avoiding repetitive point-to-point wiring.
3. It saves solderless breadboard space.
4. It makes more secure, dependable connections than point-to-point wiring.
5. It brings all the PIC I/Os to the solderless breadboard, thus making connections faster.
6. It labels all PIC I/Os on the PCB, thus making connections more accurate.
7. It facilitates in-circuit programming.
8. It includes a ZIF (zero insertion force) socket for easy micro-controller changes.
9. And, it protects your PIC from accidental power supply voltage polarity reversals.

The completed adapter will work with many different PIC micro-controllers: 8-pin PIC microcontrollers (such as the 12F683) and other 8-pin PICs with similar pin configurations, 14-pin PIC microcontrollers (such as the 16F688) and other 14-pin PICs with similar pin configurations, 20-pin PIC microcontrollers (such as the 16F690) and other 20-pin PICs with similar configurations. Check the attached schematic and the datasheet for your PIC to be sure of compatibility.

No PICkit or other programmer is included. No PIC or other microcontroller is included. No soldering iron is included. No tools or solder are included.

Adapters on which any soldering has been done, or any modifications have been made will not be accepted for return. I will ship within two business days of receipt of payment. Thanks.
