The original red protective coating that is simply melted prior to use. These food-grade waxes are provided in flat slabs with each slab providing sufficient wax to cover and protect many cheeses.

To melt the wax, the simplest method is to use a 'bains-marie': alternatively put the wax in a suitable basin and stand the basin in hot/boiling water until it becomes liquidified. Cheeses may then be painted using e.g. a pastry brush, or dipped in the molten wax to cover and protect the surfaces. Once coated, allow the cheese to cool by standing on some form of support e.g. a cake rack: once cool, invert the cheese and re-coat.

Each slab weighs 1 kg and is available in the brilliant red colour made famous by Edam cheese! Also available in our eBay store in yellow, clear, black and green. The pigment used in the wax has FDA approved status.

Store all paraffin waxes in a cool place, away from direct sunlight.

For larger orders, please request an invoice when ordering rather than pay straight away - this will give us the chance to amend the postage.

We sell over 100 items in our eBay shop, that vary in weight from 3g to 50kg, so I'm sure you can appreciate that it is impossible to devise a postage system that covers every possible purchase combination! That is why we stress that if customers are buying multiple items, then please ask for an invoice first; that way it gives us a chance to correct the postage part accordingly.
