The collectible coin of Ukrainian bank issued in 2008 commemorates the Christianization of Kievan Rus. The unique 100-hryvnia coin made of the purest .999 silver weights 1 kilogram. The conversion of the pagan folks of Kyiv to Orthodoxy was made in 988 by the Great Prince Vladimir. The event, as it mentioned in chronicles, occurred right in Dnieper river waters. The moment is depicted on the reverse side of the coin; there are Vladimir the Great and Orthodox priests standing in the center with the cross while the crowds of people are in waters. The subject of the coin is minted along the upper rim, and the year of the Christianization is placed below the image. The opposite side of the coin depicts the cross in the center with the circular pattern of spreading rays. The inscription inside it reads “Orthodoxy from Kyiv to the whole Rus”. The name of the issuing bank and the denomination are indicated along the rim of the coin minted among the intricate ornament.
