Genuine Whirlpool/KitchenAid Coupler Part For Blender – Rubber Clutch Coupling Spindle Spare Part 36mm
This is genuine original KitchenAid replacement coupler for Kitchenaid Blender - Part 9704230.
Information
The coupler is secured to the blender spindle (which is made of
steel) with a reverse aluminum thread. i.e. you turn clockwise to undo it which
is the opposite to normal. There are two ways to remove the old clutch.
1) You can use
a thin 7mm spanner to grip the flats on the spindle under the coupler then turn
the coupler clockwise.
2) You can use
a large flat head screwdriver to gently prise the coupler off the spindle. To
do this, insert the screwdriver underneath the coupler all the way to the
spindle. Then lift the screwdriver. Stop and turn the coupler a cm and repeat
the lift and so on until it comes off or is easily unscrewed. If you use this second
method, the aluminum thread in the coupler will be stripped, becuase aluminum is
softer than steel. This is not a problem as the coupler will need replacing
anyway. Make sure you clean off any pieces of aluminum left in the thread on
the spindle.
Once removed, simply screw the new couple on.
