The Royal Canadian Mint calls these "Specimen Sets," and the Charlton Standard Guide to Canadian Coins refers to the finish as "brilliant relief on a parallel lined background."  These sets are really very nice and are a more affordable way to collect Canada's regular-issue coins than the more prestigious "proof sets."   The 1998 set includes seven coins - the 1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c, $1 and $2 coins.  It comes in the original packaging as issued by the RCM, an outer, colorfully printed cardboard box, an inner "bookcase" lens with green leatherette outer surfaces and velour inner surfaces and, of course, the certificate of authenticity.  All are pictured above in the photographs, which depict the actual set you will receive.  The coins and packaging are all in excellent shape!
