Ahhh, the game of baseball. It gets in your blood.  Are you involved with the game at the youth league level?  Thinking about becoming an umpire?  This handy guidebook tells you everything you need to know to get started: uniforms, techniques, most common rules, and the key things to watch for in a game.  In short, if you love baseball, you need this guidebook.

I played the game and I am an umpire.  Playing the game was easier.   Playing the game, you just do what comes naturally and other people tell you what to do. Being an umpire is a little tougher.  It requires constant study and practice. Doing what comes naturally is often the wrong thing to do. It takes training to compensate.  It takes study in order to anticipate.

This book is aimed primarily at the new or novice umpire, the youth league umpire who has had no formal training (or perhaps just a clinic or two) and wants to improve his/her game, and anyone thinking about getting into umpiring. Certainly, established umpires may look at this book as a refresher guide or use it to help illustrate a point to a trainee umpire in a manner better than they themselves might put it into words. Baseball managers might learn from reading this book and become better managers. It is always nice to know what the umpire is thinking.
