The ultra compact design of the NT2 makes this dual-bay RAID storage enclosure one of the smallest in the market, yet it still packs a punch when it comes to flexibility and performance. The incorporation of the latest USB 3.1 Gen 2 technology provides users with super fast transfer rates of up to 10Gbps. At the same time, it is still backwards compatible with the widely used USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 technology.
This is the original NT2-U3.1 model and has cable with USB-type A connection to computer.
By incorporating the latest SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2) technology, the AKiTiO NT2 U3.1 is able to deliver up to twice the speed of the USB 3.1 Gen 1 and the older USB 3.0 connection, which runs at only 5Gbps. At the same time, the device is still backwards compatible with the widely used USB 3.0 and even USB 2.0 technology.
This dual-bay storage enclosure is designed to house up to two 3.5-inch SATA drives with the option to create a RAID set according to your own preferences. The small footprint makes this the ideal storage expansion for your crowded desktop.
With the built-in hardware RAID controller you can mirror the drives with RAID 1 as a reliable backup for your important data, stripe the drives with RAID 0 for optimal performance and maximum transfer rates or you can select SPAN to combine the drives for large storage capacities. Even individually with Non-RAID, the SATA 6Gb/s interface allows each drive to run at full SATA-III speeds.
Results will vary depending on the test environment and the drives but in order to really experience the faster transfer rates of the USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface at speeds of up to 10Gbps, it's necessary to install two SSD's and create a striped RAID set. Even though the NT2 U3.1 storage enclosure is not designed for the smaller 2.5" drives, it's still possible to install and use SSD's with a 2.5" to 3.5" drive adapter like the AKiTiO Neutrino Bridge (sold separately) for example.
For 3.5" desktop drives, the performance for anything other than a RAID 0 set is almost identical no matter if the device is connected to a USB 3.0 host at 5Gbps or a USB 3.1 Gen 2 host at 10Gbps, because the traditional spinning hard disk drives simply cannot go any faster.

Returns: During the stated return

RMA (Return Merchandise
Authorization) number is REQUIRED for all returns. Please request an RMA
number via email BEFORE shipping back item. DOA/defective items will be refunded
or replaced with an identical item (buyer’s choice) upon return of the
defective item. Refunds on returned items will be issued back to the same
payment form as was used during the purchase.
DOA defective and shipping
damaged items must be reported within 7 days of the date you received it.
The
buyer will be responsible for all shipping charges and insurance when returning

All returns must be in
BRAND-NEW, UNUSED, and UNOPENED OR SEALED CONDITION. Items must be in the
original, undamaged manufacturer's packaging with all packaging materials,
including instruction booklets, packing inserts, blank warranty cards, and all
accessories. All items must be free from markings, labeling, stickers, dents,
dings, and other signs of wear. Blister Pack items are not returnable once
opened. Any merchandise missing the original Universal Product Code (UPC)
cannot be returned. The manufacturer's labeled packaging must be enclosed
within an additional shipping carton. Please do not place stickers or shipping
labels on the original manufacturer's package.
Warranty: Once past the stated DOA return period, this item is covered under a manufacturer 2-year warranty.
