PROTEA 'PINK ICE" Special'

(Protea - Plants)
Protea "Pink Ice" is one of the hardiest of all
the Proteaceae family.

It is a woody shrub, with thick stems leading to clusters of pink to crimson colored flowers, arranged into large flower heads that are surrounded by large, narrow, colorful bracts and flattened, paddle shaped leaves.

It produces spectacular  blossoms as large as 5 inches in diameter.
Ideal for low maintenance, low water use gardens.
Tolerant of most well drained soil types and conditions.

Fast growing. Its superb blooms are beautiful when cut and last for two to three weeks in a vase.

Protea's are quite easy to grow tolerating slightly acid and alkaline soils as well as climates that are wet in winter and dry in summer.  For best performance, plant it in full sun and alkaline soil that is moderately infertile. Soil must be fast draining and porous; moist soils encourage fungal diseases.  Amend loam and clay soils with grit and coarse organic matter to improve aeration and drainage.
Do not fertilize, especially with phosphorus.

Plant this showy shrub in a prominent location to show off its magnificent flowers.
Can tolerate quite low temperatures.

The plants are shipped with soil and root and are specially grown and packaged in Madeira.

Named Hybrids now available also include: Cynaroides, pink ice , tango , cordifolium , telopea, Safari sunset, inca gold  and more..
