Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha was born in modern-day Rajgir, in the ancient capital of Magadha.

Dating back more than 2,500 years, Thai healing is rich in the traditions of the East. The history of this folk science is vague, but the legendary founder of the art is believed to have been a doctor from Northern India named Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha.  Jivaka’s work consisted of manipulative techniques as well as instruction in proper diet, herbology and mystical practices.

Jivaka was named Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha – Jivaka, meaning ‘life’, because of his will to live,

and Kumar Bhaccha, which meant ‘adopted by a prince’.

‘Jivakas supreme skill as a physician was matched by his supreme devotion to Lord Buddha, whom he attended three times a day. The Buddha declared Jivaka to be chief among his lay followers. Because of his medical eminence, Jivaka was three times crowned in public as ‘King of Doctors,’ and is therefore known as ‘Thrice Crowned Physician.”

Quotes from ancient sources, ‘Jivaka was an expert in pediatrics and excelled in brain surgery, Jivaka successfully performed intricate abdominal operations.”

The Medicine Buddha is so very powerful that if you just hear his name Bhaishajyaguru and recite his mantra, you will never be reborn in the lower realms!  This advice was given by Shakyamuni Buddha himself. Buddha went on to say that ' even animals who hear the Medicine Buddha's name will never be reborn in the hell realms' this is true whether whoever hears this has faith in the Buddha or not !  This Medicine Buddha's blessings are truly cosmic, they transcend all lifetimes- past, present, and future. When you faithfully perform his meditation, not only will you be cured of all the ailments of this life, but you will also be cured for your future lives ! You will gain precious human rebirth once more which will enable you to continue with your Dharma practice and progress on your spiritual journey.

The following is recited, then the Medicine Buddha's holy Mantra:

Bhagavan, with equal compassion for all. Whose name when just heard dispels lower realms suffering. Dispeller of disease and the three poisons (ignorance, hatred and attachment), I prostrate to the Medicine Buddha Lapis Light.

The Medicine Buddha's holy Mantra:

TADYATHA OM BEKHANDZYE BEKHANDZYE MAHA BEKHANDZYE RADZA SAMUDGATE SVAHA.

TADYATHA  means "like this".   OM  is composed of the three pure sounds that signify the holy body, speech and the mind.  BEKHANDZYE means "eliminating pain".  MAHA BEKHANDZYE  means "great eliminating pain"   RADZA means "king".  SAMUDGATE means "he who has come forth".  SVAHA  means establishing a foundation in your heart, the blessing the devotion.

The Medicine Buddha is a very powerful cosmic Buddha who manifests the healing essence of all enlightened beings. When you meditate with this Buddha you are receiving medicine of a divine kind, you will feel a heightened sense of peace and tranquility and a feeling of real sacred healing that will engage your body, your mind and your spirit. For centuries many Buddhists have believed that by carrying a Blessed Ghau, Amulet with Buddha images, Luang Phor (Thai Buddhist Monks) or Gods you will be given good luck, and protection.  Blessed ghau amulets will guard you from danger, will dispel evil and negative bad and dangerous energy, and protect you from disease. It is believed that blessed Buddhist amulets will help you to gain great wealth and will guard you and give you success while you are at home, at work, or traveling. Blessed ghau, amulets can be cast from metal or carved from a piece of wood, ivory, bone, or made from a special magical powder that contains hundreds of different special and secret ingredients that are then pressed into a mold and then baked. After this is done the amulets are blessed by monks in order to give the wearer the sacred spiritual power of protection.

Shamanism is humanity's oldest form of relationship to the spirit world. As such, it is the underpinning beneath all religion. But shamanism is not a religion. It is a complex set of practices, beliefs, values and behaviors that enable the practitioner to elicit a shift from ordinary consciousness into a trance state with a specific goal in mind, such as for healing, obtaining information, power, vision, divination, contacting the spirit of the deceased, soul retrieval or guidance for right action. Shamanic work is done with the aid of a helping ally of some sorts that the shaman has befriended. They work together as a cooperative team, with the ally being an intermediary between different levels of reality and the shaman, an engineer of altering states of consciousness.

*********************************************

Shamans throughout the world and throughout time, recognize that the universe is alive, conscious, and filled with spiritual power. Shamans know how to access this web of power and work with it skilfully and effectively to address their and their community's needs. Shamanism is the use of shamanic practices within a shamanic value system. Traditionally a shaman goes through the experience of a "calling", usually through illness, accident or some unusual quality of being, then through an arduous apprenticeship of teaching, training and testing, followed by some sort of passage rite into their new status. Typically shaman do not define themselves as such. Instead they are defined by their community based on what it is that they do. Becoming a shaman and living as a shaman is a difficult and demanding life path that many indigenous people shy away from because of its formidable requirements. It is not about fun and glamour. Unskilful and uneducated acts can cause harm, or even be life-threatening, to the practitioner as well as to others. For shamanism deals with power, and power can move in many different ways, like electricity. It is important to move slowly with respect, humility and care.

Many or us are trying to find peace a small place where we can enjoy our lives. We look around and watch the world go by.  All we wish to do is to find a small amount of peace and tranquility in the world today. There are huge amounts of negative and bad energy flowing. Many dark energies are around and trying to posess us. They try to find a host, when we are at a low point in our lives, when we are weak and vunerable.
