The orchestra OLDA

The symphony orchestra of David d'Angers high school, OLDA, was created in 1983 by Jean-Jo Roux, music teacher in high school. The third and current musical director is Thierry Rose, who succeeded Jean-François Mialot.

The orchestra is managed by a 1901 law association of musicians and their parents as well as the musical director. The orchestral work is done in the high school and college but outside the course usually Saturday morning hours.

The orchestra consists of 65 young musicians aged 11 to 18 years, students of Secondary School which has no section dedicated to music. This is a full symphony orchestra where all the instruments are represented.
Concerts and tours

The OLDA give twenty concerts per year of classical and contemporary music, film music and creations.

In 2012 (and in 2015), the OLDA attended the Gala Cadre Noir of Saumur Riding School and the National Hang Hearts Angers festival opposite the Chateau d'Angers. Tours of OLDA also took place at UN Headquarters in New York, Beijing and Shanghai.
