Stephen Morris
, drums and keyboards and Gillian Gilbert, keyboards player and guitarist of the band New Order from Manchester, in concert in Hal 4, Rotterdam 13-12-1980.
A photo that also featured in the 2nd issue from 1981 Dutch music magazine Muziekkrant Oor, illustrating a review of this gig as a short interview with Bernard Sumner.
Two other photos from this series, one of Stephen and one of Gillian were published in the book 'An Ideal For Living' by Mark Johnson from 1984.
This was their very first gig at the mainland and the band’s 9th ever and took place in a new venue in Rotterdam, a renovated hall at a water purification plant. A gig made possible by the efforts of Mike Pickering, who then lived in Rotterdam and soon relocated to Manchester to DJ at the new club The Haçienda as formed his bands Quando Quango and M-People.
This gig was the 2nd appearance of Gillian Gilbert and showed an emotional and young band working hard through a selection of brand new songs. This struggling band would soon conquer the world with their massive hits and iconic albums.

Marc Tilli took photos while attending gigs in the alternative circuit in The Netherlands. He graduated from art school in the 80’s as a designer.
