To set the timing on your cam (camshaft) you can just line up the dots, but I will bet you are loosing power...why ? ....you are trying to time all the valves to work at the optimum...and sods law is against you...times about 6
Angle of big end journals relative to each other and the crank keyway, angle of the lobes on the cam relative to the keyway, cut of key on crank pulley, teeth on pulley, wear or slack in chain or pulley, angle of teeth on cam pulley, cut of key in cam pulley, and cam...if each one of these is only 1/2 a degree out then your cam is effectively 5 degrees out...plus accuracy of the dots...
So having done all the measuring your cam is between 1 and 9 degrees out...you can now use an offset key to make it perfect...
They are not cheap, but if your engine is not at its optimum then you are wasting fuel...and if you are doing motorsport of any kind, optimum engine setup and power is a must
As a general rule if you can buy 1 BHP for eighty pounds you are doing
well PRICE is for 1 key maybe its money well spent (one speedshop
lists them at £23 too) If you want the set of 9 please message for a good discount....
