Finish - Beeswax

Products are hot dipped into a honey beeswax that provides a subtle matt richness to the underlying metal. Sometimes because of temperature changes your product might arrive with a slight white bloom. We recommend you polish it with a soft cloth to restore the finish. Any excess wax can be removed with a hot damp cloth. If the ironware is exposed to any damp or moisture it may develop surface rust. This can be easily removed by rubbing with wire wool. You should then apply maintenance wax with a rag or brush. When two areas of metal come into contact with each other this can rub away the wax finish, and we recommend a regular light oiling of any moving parts. Beeswax finish is only suitable for internal or sheltered fittings.

Finish – Traditional Black

Traditional black coating provides an attractive and durable corrosion resistant finish, which can last for 10 - 15 years. There are many general advantages to using the powder coating process over conventional paints. For instance it contains no solvents so is kinder to the environment, it doesn’t run and it provides a tougher coating. Powder coating is a modern painting process whereby dry powdered paint is sprayed to a bare metal object. As the fine powder leaves the gun it becomes electrostatically charged and sticks to the metal. It is then cured in an oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for around 10 minutes causing the powder to melt and form an even coating. A regular clean and polish, and light oiling of any moving parts can easily maintain items finished in traditional black. Any chips or scratches down to bare metal should be repaired with exterior paint to provide water resistance.
