Offering an antique Jewish Tubeteika - Yarmulke – Kippah – Bukharan.

This fabulous work of art is from a collection belonging to my great aunt who has now passed on. I have eight different antique kippah, purchased from all over the world during her travels. They are all handmade and date from the late 19th century – very early 20th century.

This particular one measures 22” in circumference. It is based on heavy cotton but I think the embroidery threads are silk. The colors are rich but subdued, like a fine carpet. Please note that every stitch was put in by hand.

This is a work of art and should be preserved as such but it is also still very wearable.

The interior shows some discoloration and soiling. Overall construction is solid but this is a very old piece. There are places where threads have separated, come out or worn away. The rim is open and the green thread that edged it is mostly gone (shown in photos).
