A vintage Herman Miller and Eames side shell with Alexander Girards’ ‘speckled’ Blue upholstery is amazing on its black DSR base making a perfect combination. Available by themselves, in a pair or in sets, these chairs are perfect for any occasion and have a distinctive and hard-wearing naugahyde fabric finish which add a splash of colour and additional comfort to the tops.

The Eames shells have barely changed through their long life, retaining their modern feel with flare. Throughout their production, however, the introduction of new bases to maintain the versatility of the chairs along with the coveted upholstered range designed with the help of Alexander Girard were introduced to ensure the chairs retained their modern look.

Individual Characteristics

This particular top is in very good condition for its age, there are no signs of cracks or dents whilst the fabric upholstery has no lifting or tears.

The ‘S’ inside the circle indicates this shell came from Herman Miller’s Summit Prime factory in Michigan.
