ORIGINAL 1992 BARBARA MASLEN 'FRUIT TART' PASTEL ILLUSTRATION PAINTING
This is a great piece. I recently acquired an incredible collection of original pastel food illustrations by well listed Sag Harbor artist Barbara Maslen. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included her biography below. Early in the artist's career she was one of the more important original illustrators doing work for many companies and advertisers. I have found quite a few of her original illustrations including some in New York Magazine. In fact, if you search the website Illustration Source, you will find many of her similar if not the same images available there. You can licence her work for a year for more than I am asking for the original artwork. Dont miss this chance. These are wonderful impressionist pastel paintings filled with great color and composition. All are unframed and ready for framing however works with your decor. A few of these would make an incredible presentation in any kitchen or living room. This is a wonderful view of a fruit tart and plated slice. Image measures 10 x 13 1/2 inches on original sheet measuring 14 3/4 x 20 inches. Signed and dated in pencil lower right with artist's label and title in pencil below. Pastel is in outstanding original condition with no issues at all. It is stored between clear plastic and a paper backing that makes it really ready to frame. For those not familiar with the artist, her biography from a website that has sold the artist's work reads: "Barbara Maslen has been a professional working artist since her graduation from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration in 1977. She began her career in NYC as an illustrator working with pastels in a contemporary impressionist style for national corporate, advertising and publishing clients, such as the New York Times, American Express, Disney & Estee Lauder. A year round resident of Sag Harbor since 1990, she expanded her work to include large-scale custom murals hand painted on site. her mural commissions include both residential, & commercial hospitality & healthcare installations. Her personal paintings reflect her love of the East End of Long Island and it's breathtaking beauty, which she observes & captures with a confident combination of expert draftsmanship and a fresh impressionistic use of light, color & gesture, often exploring the texture and patterns found in nature through the play of light on the surface."
