Hommage to the italian explorer and travel writer Fosco Maraini . He was the author of many pioneering travel books, most famously those based on his extensive travels through Tibet and Japan. His scholarly works and lively reportage have been translated throughout the world, while his photographs of Tibet and the Ainu people are considered important historical records of the disappearing cultures.
The pen is made in blue translucent resin, it is then overlaid with an intricate cut pattern plated with luxurious rodhium gold. The retractable nib design is part of Stipula’s well known Da Vinci collection of capless writing instruments. . The innovative engineering lies within the pen: the mechanism takes flight by simply turning the barrel, which gracefully propels the 14K gold nib outward into writing position. As you close the pen, a circular hood slowly covers the retracting nib to cover it entirely.
