Scarce and stunning antique frame in the Arts & Crafts taste, circa 1905, dark oak in tabernacle form, the peaked top with lozenge-shaped cutout, containing a wooden plaque with the image of a Gibson Girl-type woman swinging a golf club (the medium evidently a combination of applied and varnished lithograph and wood burning), the sight size of the plaque approx. 19-1/4” x 18-3/4”, the overall size of the frame approx. 24-1/2” x 13-1/4”. Scattered surface losses to golfer; frame with scattered light surface wear; otherwise very good attractive condition overall.

The frame is designed so that the plaque is secured within a groove along all four sides. The bottom rail is removable with two screws so that, if desired, the plaque can be slid out and replaced with another artwork, piece of glass, mirror plate, etc.
