Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Telecaster Custom '72 vintage reissue in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in Japan and intended only for the domestic market, this Telecaster Custom is a faithful and very well crafted reissue, embodying everything that makes the Telecaster Custom model so versatile and fun to play. Featuring a sleek Black finish over an alder body, this Tele has also been upgraded with a wiring harness comprising USA-made CTS pots and Sprague Orange Drop tone caps.

With a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position and a traditional Tele single coil at the bridge, this Tele has a very wide tonal spectrum, from thick, meaty humbucker tones in the neck position to chiming, twangy single coil tones at the bridge. Of course the middle position is truly a "best of both worlds setting," and the two pickups balance well both in terms of output and their respective tonal attributes. Weighing in at 8lbs 2oz, this guitar has a pleasing, crisp acoustic tone with solid sustain that translates well through the pickups. We've had this Tele professionally setup here at our shop, Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, and it's currently strung with 10-46 strings, and comfortable, slinky action.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C shaped profile that stays consistently slim and fast all the way up the fretboard. The gloss finished maple fretboard boasts original, vintage style fretwire that shows only light, uniform wear on frets 1-3, with lighter wear beneath the plain strings until fret 5 and virtually no wear further up the board. The scale length is the traditional 25 1/2", while the fretboard radius also matches vintage spec at 7 1/4", and the nut has a 1 5/8" width. On the headstock, the Gotoh branded tuners turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should (the B string tuner is a similar replacement Gotoh gear).

All of the electronics work well, with each pickup wired to independent Volume and Tone knobs, in addition to a three-way toggle pickup selector switch. The pots and caps have been upgraded to USA-made parts along with a set of genuine Fender reissue witch hat knobs. Cosmetically, the guitar shows some scuffing in the pick path, a few finish scratches and small marks on the back and adjacent to the input jack, and one small finish chip near the rear strap button. This Tele Custom is a great example of the quality instruments produced by Fender Japan, and a professionally setup and upgraded instrument that's ready for stage and studio use.
