Offering a stunning antique silk embroidered picture souvenir from about 1900. They were called Trapuntos. This one belonged to my great aunt. Her family did a tour cruise of the Orient at about that time. It has been in storage for decades.

This silk embroidered picture is wood framed and under glass. The glass is extremely reflective and I had a difficult time photographing the piece. There are shadows and marks in the photos that are not present in person. In facet, the piece is in near perfect condition. The background of dark blue silk is not faded, torn or stained in any way. The silk embroidery is perfect and not a thread is missing or out of place. The only slight imperfection is that there are a couple of minor creases in the background silk probably from when it was mounted.

The framed piece measures 16" X 21".

The title of this is: In Remembrance of My Cruise in Philippines. Japan and China are also mentioned further down. There are the old flags of many Asian countries and you can see that the flag of China still featured the Dragon on Yellow.

There is an amazing embroidery featuring the cruise ship itself with it's many tall masts. I was told that these pieces were hand embroidered by native women who sold them at the docks to the ship's passengers.

It's a really wonderful piece of historical art and in amazingly good condition.
