Hessian Flower Pouches
Available as packs of 4,10, 30 or 60
These flower bags are great for creating colour at any time of the year- pansies in the winter-begonias or Bizzie Lizzies in the summer. Plastic hanging bags have been around a while and are great for creating colourful displays but these hanging bags, made from Hessian, are much more attractive than the plastic versions and are biodegradable. These hessian hanging flower bags are made from biodegradable Hessian-so much more attractive than green plastic. Prepare now for bagfuls of summer colour. Fill with a good quality potting compost: firming into the corners. Lay flat to plant: increase the size of the holes to take the roots. Plug plants are ideal. For larger plants cut across the bag and insert. After planting: water using a fine rose leaving the bag flat. Leave for 1-2 weeks: before hanging up and planting one or two plants in the top. Water regularly but watch the plants at the bottom- if they are growing slowly you may be overwatering. After the frosts have gone: hang in final position. Water and feed regularly: Lay the bag down and water into the top with the bag at a slight angle-this ensures the water gets all the way to the bottom. At the end of the season: empty and store dry ready for next year Planting suggestions: I found that planting a single species such as bizzie lizzies or geraniums in a bag gives the best results. For shade: Fuchsias (4 per bag plus one in the top), Bizzie Lizzies, trailing begonias For sun: Geraniums, petunias, fibrous rooted begonias.
