THE MINE: The area of Libona has a long gold mining history. The first written account of the gold mining acitivity is from 1817 by the Spanish. The Gango gold mines were operated from 1986 on by small scale miners. The gold was mined from tunnels, following the quartz gold ore veins. The project was closed a few years ago. Today it is very difficult to get gold ore from this locality as there are no mining activities right now and only very limited unprocessed ore stocks available
