Mandela is famous for his anti-apartheid fight and human rights protecting activity. For his revolution activities Nelson served in prison 27 years and became President of the country in 1994 after releasing. Being the leader of the renewed South Africa Mandela provided the deep reforming of the state policies. The token commemorates the decade of Mandela’s Presidency calling it the years of freedom. The subject of the medal is stated on one side of it along with the flag of South Africa and a stylized chain of people holding hands. The years of Mandela’s Presidency are minted here as well. The opposite side bears the portrait of him with the name and personal signature.
