These formal gowns / dresses are used for both male and female infants in the Catholic church and sometimes in evangelical church baby dedications.

This particular set is new, never worn and has no stains or odors or other damage. It is pale cream in color which was hard to photo so I darkened one picture to show some detail.

There are four parts; an embroidered organza over gown, an opaque under slip, a simple tie-on baby bonnet and a pair of tiny booties.

The gown measures about  36" in length shoulder to hem. The bodice measures 20” around and the neck measures 14” around. The organza overdress is heavily embroidered from the bodice all the way down the front to the hem. There is an organza rose on the front tied with some satin ribbon. All edges of the gown are scalloped.

This long gown is fully open at the back so that the baby does not have to have the dress pulled over her head. You simply put it over the front of the infant and tie it at the back with a ribbon. This traditional style can be easily slipped on over diapers, blankets and other clothing, and also looks better in photographs as it does not crumple up under the baby. 

A gorgeous gift we did not use as we received another one from the other grandparents!
