This vintage Stanley No 4 Type 9 (1902 - 1907) has been restored and refurbished by me to a nice working condition. Has a few minor imperfections, as planes of this age typically have and the price has been set accordingly.

Original japanning had deteoriated, so has been replaced with imitation japanning. Sides and sole have been lapped, slight rounding at toe/heel. There is what remains of a previous owner's initials on one side. The tote and knob have been cleaned up and rubbed with mineral oil. The knob has a hairline cracks that are not problematic.  The tote has the top edge shaved off, a common trait in old Stanleys. All parts rubbed down with Renaissance Wax to protect and prevent rust.

This is a nice No 4 ready for many years of faithful service to come. Includes two blades. One with the type S logo and another with the type V logo. Blades will just need to be fully sharpened and honed to owner's preference.

Feel free to message me with any questions. Check out my store for many more vintage and antique tools of all kinds and more. Thanks!

Many thanks to Patrick Leach and his SuperTool site and Blood & Gore guide to identifying and dating Stanley planes, as well as Bob Kaune for his Stanley logo type study.
