The Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primoplan 1.9 58mm is a beautiful, highly sought after prime lens that was manufactured between 1952 and 1959 by the Meyer-Optik company in East Germany. During that time Meyer-Optik Görlitz was famous for high end fast lenses. It is only in later years that the name Meyer-Optik was associated with lenses of mediocre quality, such as the Domiplan lens.
The Meyer-Optik Görlitz Primoplan 1.9 58mm is most famous for its’ unique creamy bookeh – a true twirling delight. Artistic and portraiture photographers will love this lens as it invites the user to experiment with deliberate over exposure and other artistic photography techniques. The overall image sharpness is only good when stopped down. This creates unique looking images that have a specific feel to it.
The overall build quality is well above average. The full metal construction with integrated lens hood is a true delight that overshadows any modern lens.

Body is in good shape for it's age. Lens barell has some wear but accept light-filter well. Glass is clean from major scratches (there is few marks from cleaning on the front element which has no affect on quality of the photos). There is no dust, no fungus or haze inside. The diaphragm moves nicely at every aperture position. The diaphragm-control ring turns smoothly and accurate. The focusing turns smoothly and precise. I can send more detailed photos - just ask.
Last photos were made with this lens and Sony-A7 digital camera with EXA-NEX adapter (at f/1.9)!
