Lao olive burl (Olea gagnepainii) Origin: Southeast Asia.

A tree that produces high-quality wood. Heartwood is a cream or yellowish brown, with darker brown or black contrasting streaks. Color tends to deepen with age. Olive is sometimes figured with curly or wavy grain, burl, or wild grain with moderate natural luster.
The wood is dense, heavy, hard and strong, somewhat easy to work, though wild or interlocked grain may result in tearout during surfacing operations. Turns superbly. Glues and finishes well.
Because of the fruit’s economic importance, healthy Olive trees aren’t felled for lumber; availability is generally limited to pruned branches, trimmings, and diseased/storm damaged orchard trees. Short lumber, turning squares, and burls are occasionally available from wild trees. Prices are very high.

There may be small inclusions, voids, defects, holes and a few minor drying checks which is typically found in burl wood. Sanded and sealed to protect the wood. This stock is in various stages of drying and may not be fully dry...
