This listing is for a fully functional 1950's LINEMAR MUSIC HALL BATTERY OPERATED TIN LITHO TOY w/box as shown. It is in near mint - mint condition with the exception of one broken off tab on the base of the toy which can be seen in photos. Colors are clear & bright. Tin litho is shiny & the dog's plush fur is as new...very clean. No corrosion anywhere. When the battery is inserted and the toy is turned on, the correct 4 actions follow: (1) Dog moves head from side to side, (2) Both hands move up and down as if playing the piano, (3) He leans back and forth while playing, (4) The piano plays a high pitched wind-chime-like tune that I do not recognize. Absolutely charming. This toy has been tested and works well provided the battery is new with a full charge as is common with many single battery toys of the era. Battery compartment is mint as are the connections. This is a "MADE IN JAPAN" toy shown in Don Hultzman's book, COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO BATTERY TOYS, copyright 2002, second edition. It is pictured & listed on page 104. It is a 1950's era toy made by the Linemar Co. It has a rarity of 5 on a scale to 10 being the rarest, and a value of $320.00 in C-10 condition without the box. The original box is included with the packaging inserts. It is in very good-excellent undamaged condition with the exception  of two of the curved scalloped edges on the lid are damaged. Very nice condition for storage or display. It has the Linemar logo and the usual " ONE OF THE MANY LINEMAR TOYS. DO YOU HAVE THEM ALL? " printed on the box. The Linemar logo can also be seen on the tin litho on the base of the toy. Would make a nice addition to any discriminating collector of toys. A nice compliment to your Beethoven The Jolly Pianist toy. Other 50's & 60's mint & mib battery op & wind-up toys listed in auction & my EBAY store.
