Although Darth Vader’s design features that oh so iconic helmet, did you know that originally George Lucas imagined him wearing a black silk scarf over his face? Ralph McQuarrie, the concept artist for the films included a helmet for him to wear whilst moving between ships, but it was decided that Darth Vader would keep it on all the time. At least it's in theme with his loyal Stormtroopers!
