This UK Free Post 'Buy it Now' is for a Hornby, BR, Non-Corridor, A1/A3/A4 Tender for use with locomotives such as 'Tornado', 'The Flying Scotsman', and many others. This Tender is in outstanding condition. It actually comes from the 'Tornado' in the R1169 set, and is in BR Lined Green livery with their Early Crest.
It comes from a set which had a faulty controller, so it might not have been used, but I don't know. I have been advised by an enthusiast with a lot more knowledge than me, that in absolute terms this tender in this exact design was only ever used by Tornado, so whilst for most of us it would look fine behind many Gresley designed 4-6-2 locos, the top of the tender at the rear is specific to Tornado A1s. I am grateful to this enthusiast for his insight.
This Tender is one of Hornby's very latest Tenders from the Railroad range and it has a hook connection (as pictured), so unless you want to change this for an older style coupling, you will need to fit it to a Loco with a prong connector. This is not a powered tender, so it is for use with a Loco Drive engine.
There are 8 wheels in all on 4 axles. The last set of wheels are not on a Bogie, so this Tender will be much easier to fit onto the track, specially for youngsters. It has an NEM style removable rear coupling.
