Vintage - Japanese Glass on Shibayama - Carved Wood Stand - 9 5/8"x 17 1/4" - FINE-EXC

Authentic vintage Japanese stand, pedestal or side table. Features include:

• Top decorated in Shibayama mosaic, a technique named for its inventor. A removable glass panel covers and protects the mosaic. Mosaic has a black lacquer background and shows a tall woman in her kimono with a child in a pajama-like outfit, strolling in a landscape indicated by sketchy gold brush marks. 
• A drawer (no handle) that pulls out from below the mosaic, at the front of the stand.
• The carved wood base includes figures framed in architectural details and flowers that repeat on each of the four sides and the legs of the stand.

Stand measures 9 5/8" square at top (8 3/4" at sides of base, below mosaic top) x 17 1/4" tall. Carved-wood drawer measures 6 5/8" x 6 7/8". Lot weighs 6 lbs. 7 oz., estimated package weight is 13 lbs. Will be thoroughly padded and carefully packed for secure, intact delivery.
