This is an antique spear with an iron tip, from Africa, a spear that was used by natives for hunting game.  It comes from the estate of a man who was a US serviceman stationed in Eritrea in the 1950's.  He said he traded with the natives to get the spear and that they used it to hunt lions.  The heavy hand made iron point is about 10.5 inches long.  It attaches to a wooden spear which is about 22 inches long, has wire rolled in 3 places, and is hand made.  The wooden spear had to be cut down so that it could be transported from Africa to the US in military airplanes.  The antique iron point has two sections, the rolled iron is about 6.5 inches and the base is about 4.25 inches.  No part of this spear has been cleaned or polished.  The man who brought it form Africa told his family that he had seen natives hunting with it.  It's a great, old, authentic African hunting spear.
